Fleetwood , New Mexico

I am lucky to call myself a friend of Elliott McDowell’s.

He is an EXTRAordinary Fine art Photographer – and with a playful bent! He has been shooting subjects, capturing moments and spinning his magic with Digital Composites since i can remember. What can i say……his stuff is just always “tasty”!!

This shot taken just outside Santa Fe is a classic McDowell and if you look hard – you can see some of the iconic overtures that were no doubt picked up during his tenure of understudy with Ansel Adams, as a young man.

I dont know….is it just me, or is there something hyper-cool about a vintage Cadillac, Fleetwood sitting amid the rugged arid desert of Northern New Mexico?  Its just cool, right?!

When I started IKONICartprints.com, it was dream of mine to convince Elliott he should be involved – and now I’m happy to say he has TWO galleries on our site; one featuring this and other Black and White works – and the other focused on Color works and Composites.

iKonic™ Art Prints enters the Blogosphere!

WELCOME TO THE VERY FIRST iKONIC™ BLOG!

My name is Rick Roseman. I am the creator and curator of iKonicArtPrints.com.  iKonic™ represents a very select group of “living artist” – contemporary artists creating fresh and exciting works; images that are “iconic” both within historical paradigms and the trends that are currently shaping the art world. In the same vein that artists like Andy Warhol, Baron Wolman, Annie Lebowitz and Robert Capa have carved their legacies with enduring iconic styles – our artists are following and re-shaping similar paths for a growing NEW audience of like-minded individuals, collectors and institutions*. You will not find fields of bluebonnets, cheezy still-lifes or gratuitous images that pander to mass markets here. What you will find are off-beat, fresh perspective, and wildly creative works by artists that capture the world and its components with unique juxtaposition and evocative pop-cultural appeal.

So…as an e-Commerce site (www.iKonicArtPrints.com), poised, posted and already having entered the world’s fine art Giclée printing industry, we are here, first time blogging, present and ready to share what’s going on in the world of working with some of the finest artists around the world!  As iKONIC™ prints some of the most beautiful works of art ever created, I am here to share experience, perspectives and overall thoughtful ideas of what it’s like from my perspective, my view.

Rick Roseman has worked with a camera most of his life – but only in the last five years as a Fine Art Photographer. Prior to becoming an artist, Roseman spent 19 years as the founder and director of a global design firm specializing in VIP and head of State private aircraft – a passion of his since boyhood. “My favorite part” says Roseman, “was the photo shoot at the end of each project”. As the world of digital cameras began to unfold, Roseman began carrying a camera literally everywhere – and using it “to excess” he claims. “Its just so easy compared to film” according to the artist. “I can take literally HUNDREDS of shots of a single subject and then study the nuance of each – back in my studio” Out of a hundred photos, Roseman explains there is always a morcel of cool in there somewhere. The real fun is to uncover it, tweak it, crop it and harvest the one image that HOLDS you! Among the many subjects and styles captured by Roseman, the most recent and popular have been his Night Gallery series – an expanding new series of images captured in Night Clubs, Restaurants and Bars throughout a vast urban landscape that includes Santa Fe, NM (his home). Dallas, NY, LA, Paris, Barcelona and other cities, all “after dark”. Roseman’s tag line for these slightly blurred impressions of the urban night scene is borrowed from a 1975 Willie Nelson song lyric…..”that Night Life Aint No Good Life but It’s My Life”. Roseman is a working Fine Art Photogrpher living in Santa Fe, NM.
